School District Negligence Results in $1,625,000 Verdict
Attorneys Richard Barone and Amelia Steelhead successfully obtained a $1,625,000 verdict in Alhambra after their client Damian was stabbed as he was leaving school. Damian’s friend was involved in a failed conflict resolution at school that day and the two students were attacked by gang members when they left school that same day. The attorneys at Rose, Klein & Marias fought hard through multiple defense motions and when no sufficient settlement offers were extended, Mr. Barone and Ms. Steelhead tried the case on behalf of Damian.
After a three-week trial, the jury returned a verdict of $1,625,000 against the school district, assigning 85% of responsibility to the school for failing to adequately resolve the conflict and safely dismiss the students.
