This accident shows that pedestrians are not safe from traffic accidents. If a vehicle leaves the road and rolls onto a sidewalk, or if a pedestrian accidentally steps out into a crosswalk when the traffic light is red, then he or she stands a chance of being hit and injured or killed. Auto accidents have the potential to injure and kill not only other motorists, but pedestrians as well.

In many instances, auto accidents are caused by intoxicated or distracted drivers. Drivers that are talking on a cell phone, texting, or otherwise distracted pose a danger to pedestrians due to the driver’s divided attention.

Anyone who is injured or loses a family member in a car accident is entitled to a just and fair monetary compensation. The family members have the legal right to seek damages in a wrongful death lawsuit against the responsible driver. In this way, the driver is held accountable for the damages that his or her negligent behavior caused, and the plaintiff receives restitution tragic result of that behavior.
